The Value of Video
If a picture is worth 1000 words, what is the value of a video? Video should play an important role in any content marketing strategy, but conceiving and producing quality video content is often perceived as cost prohibitive to small businesses. Here are three reasons why producing high quality video might not be as arduous a task as you’ve been led to believe.
Shorter is better. While there are no hard and fast rules for the length of an online marketing video, we do know that viewer attention drops off after the 90 second mark – so keep it short.
Your smart phone is now your film crew. You don’t need a diploma in video production to make a high-quality video for your customers; there needn’t be umbrella lights and rearranged furniture. You can use that video camera that is built into your phone or camera and use an app like Magisto, Qik, or Cinefyto edit, beautify and post your content to any number of social networks.
More is better. Don’t try to mash your entire brand story into one video. It is better to create a series of short videos that focus on a particular aspect of your business. Create an introductory video to explain the context of the subsequent videos to give the viewer an idea of what to expect and how to navigate the series. Not only does this help your viewer find the content that they are looking for, but it also helps you keep your video length down.
Think about it. When you’re researching info, how often do you turn to video instead of scrolling through pages of text? Videos are fun, informative and fast. By creating short, targeted videos that are easily consumed by your audience, you can easily extend the reach of your brand’s messaging and open new doors.
